Shamil Concludes Summer Training for 21 University Students

Students From Bahrain-Based Universities Acquired a Wealth of Banking Knowledge at Shamil Bank

Shamil Bank, a leading Bahrain-based Islamic commercial and investment bank has announced the successful completion of the summer training program for 21 Bahraini students. The two month-long training program which started at the beginning of July 2006 was concluded at a certificate award ceremony held at the Bank’s head office in Bahrain last week.

The program provided training in the fields of banking and finance to a group of twenty-one students from Bahrain University and other universities and educational institutions in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The trainees, who have been placed in various departments at the Bank’s head office and branches all over Bahrain, expressed their utmost satisfaction with the quality of training and the amount of learning during the training program. According to them the hands-on experience at the Bank has helped them acquire invaluable practical skills.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ahmed A. Rahim, General Manager Support Group said: "I am extremely happy to be here today, among the young Bahraini ladies and gentlemen who have successfully completed their training at the Bank. Your conduct and behavior has been commendable. I indeed see you as the future of our country. Banking is a fast growing industry in Bahrain and in the region. I am sure that the knowledge and skills you have acquired with us during this period will help you in deciding the best and most suitable academic route and will help you in future in discharging your career responsibilities professionally. I wish all of you the very best in your scholastic endeavours”.

Occupational training is a pre-requisite for graduating students in the Kingdom Bahrain. In proving its commitment towards the Bahraini society, Shamil Bank organizes a number of training activities all year round. Some of these are in coordination with the University of Bahrain and other private universities and educational institutions in the country.

The summer training program at Shamil commences annually in July and completes by the end of August. Two more batches of students are also provided with on-job training for a month period in March and October every year.

Mr. Yousif Abdulla Yousif, Senior Manager HR & Administration, Shamil Bank congratulated the trainees on the successful completion of the program and wished them well. He encouraged the internees to put their learning to best possible use and stressed that it will be of great help to them throughout their academic studies and professional career.

Mr. Abdulla, in his remarks also revealed that: “Many similar community service initiatives are currently in the works. We take pride in successfully steering the 50-day long Crown Prince’s Action Learning Program to a near-close. Earlier, our selection by the Crown Prince’s Court to participate in the inaugural Summer Joint Action Learning Program, which is part of the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP), was an achievement in itself.”

Shamil Bank was one of the two organizations selected for the program from among all private companies in Bahrain. The program involved eight CPISP students, who worked on special projects designed by the Bank to maximize their learning and business understanding. The scheme, an active cooperation between the CPISP and the private sector organizations, was designed to provide practical training opportunity for the participants and to develop them as efficient and capable future leaders.

Among others, the award ceremony was attended by Essa Al Jalahma, Personnel Manager and Enas Rahimi, Senior Officer, Training and Development.
