programme

Shamil Bank of Bahrain,
a leading commercial and investment bank, has
taken onboard twenty-six Bahraini university students
for an intensive summer programme, offering practical
training in the field of banking and finance.
On-the-job training is a pre-requisite for graduating
students of University of Bahrain and other private
educational institutions. Shamil Bank, a subsidiary
of Ithmaar Bank, decided to launch the annual
four-month programme as part of its ongoing commitment
towards Bahraini society.
The trainees were welcomed to the Bank by Tariq
Bahar, Head of Retail Banking, Essa Al Jalahma,
Manager, Personnel Department and Enas Mohammed
Rahimi, Assistant Manager, Training & Development.
Bahar presented an overview of the Bank including
its vision, mission and strategic objectives and
also offered work guidelines and tips which will
be useful for the students’ training period
and future careers. Al Jalahma covered Shamil
Bank’s procedures and regulations, encouraging
the students to feel free in providing feedback
and suggestions to its management. The trainees
were then placed in various departments at the
Bank’s head office in the Seef District
and at branches throughout of the Kingdom.
Commenting on the programme, Shamil Bank Chief
Executive, Mr. Mohamed Hussein, explained that
large number of students have benefited from training
at Shamil Bank since the programme’s inception
over the years.
“Shamil Bank wants to be recognised, not
only as an innovator in Islamic finance, but also
as a significant contributor to the community
of the Kingdom of Bahrain, our host country. The
Bank is proud to have been able to touch the lives
of so many youngsters and positively impact their
professional development,” he said.
“On behalf of Shamil Bank and Ithmaar Bank’s
management and staff, I’d like to wish the
trainees an enjoyable and productive summer ahead.
We encourage them to take full advantage of this
programme, which will undoubtedly be of great
use to their studies and future careers.”
