Continuing with its commitment towards service to the Bahraini society and as part of its annual community relations program, Shamil Bank has once again launched a training program for a group of sixteen Bahraini students in the fields of banking and finance. Upon completion, the internees will have acquired practical skills required in the respective field.
The program is organized in coordination with the University of Bahrain and a number of other private universities and educational institutions in the country. The internship program is a pre-requisite for the graduating students. It commenced in early July this year and will complete by the end of August 2006. The internees have been placed in various departments at the Bank’s head office and at the branches located in different parts of the Kingdom.
The program was launched with an introductory meeting with the internees held at the Bank’s training room in the Head Office. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mohammed Hussain, Chief Executive said: "Shamil Bank’s role in the society is not limited to providing banking and financial services only, but to extends care and support to the entire Bahraini community. Our training program for the young men and women of our country is a humble effort in that direction. We take interest in sponsoring more activities that ensure the uplift of educational and professional standards of our youth.”
Yousif Abdulla Yousif, Senior Manager, HR and Administration welcomed the internees. In his remarks, he stressed the community’s need for more training programs of similar nature. He also expressed the Bank’s desire to participate in as many training programs as possible with the very purpose of enhancing the technical and professional skills of Bahraini nationals in the fields of banking and finance. He added that the Bank lives up to its responsibilities towards the Bahraini community. The meeting was attended by other Shamil Bank representatives Essa Al Jalahma, Personnel Manager, Nadia Janahi, Senior Personnel Officer and Enas Rahimi, Senior Officer, Training and Development.

He encouraged the internees to benefit from the program as much as possible as it will be of great help to them throughout their academic studies and professional career.
Another major achievement in a leading community service role for Shamil Bank was its recent selection by the Crown Prince’s Court to participate in the inaugural Summer Joint Action Learning Program which is part of the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP). Shamil Bank was selected from among all private companies in Bahrain together with the Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) being the only other participant.
The 50 day long Action Learning Program involves eight CPISP students, who will be working in two groups, each of four students assisted by a Task Force comprising of Shamil Bank staff. The students will be working on special projects designed to maximize learning and business understanding for them. The scheme, an active cooperation between the CPISP and the private sector organizations, is designed to provide practical training opportunity for the participants in order to develop them as efficient and able future leaders.
